Vern's Data Center Moratorium Proposal Is Getting Attention

Vern Thompson's call for a one-year moratorium on data center development is generating statewide conversation — including a column this week from Inforum's Rob Port.

Thompson laid out his position on a recent episode of the Plain Talk podcast: "I'm proposing that we have a temporary one-year moratorium so we can give communities the time they need to make informed decisions and weigh the benefits and the impacts."

Port frames the proposal as anti-data center. That is not true:

We are calling for a one-year moratorium to give local control back to the counties. Without it, they are being steamrolled by the out-of-state multi-billion dollar corporations.
