Vern Thompson to Visit Drought-Stricken Farms and RanchesAcross North Dakota This Week
FARGO, N.D. — Vern Thompson, Democratic-NPL candidate for North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner, will spend this week visiting farms and ranches across the state to see firsthand how ongoing drought conditions are affecting North Dakota producers.
The tour includes stops in Morton, Traill, Benson, Eddy, McHenry, Ward, Mountrail, Golden Valley, Hettinger, and Bowman counties.
This week's stops:
● Tuesday morning — John Steckler farm, near St. Anthony, Morton County
● Wednesday morning — Ross Lockheart farm, near Grandin, Traill County
● Wednesday afternoon — Austin Langley farm, Benson and Eddy counties (details to
be announced)
● Thursday morning — Scott Shively farm, near Towner, McHenry County
● Thursday afternoon — Gary Meyer farm, near Berthold, Ward County, with an additional stop in Mountrail County
● Saturday — Stops across Golden Valley, Hettinger, and Bowman counties
“You can’t understand what our farmers and ranchers are going through by staying in an office in Bismarck,” said Thompson. “You have to get out into these communities and see what’s happening on the ground.”
More stops will be added to the tour in the coming weeks. Additional details on the Wednesday afternoon and Saturday stops will be announced as they’re confirmed.
